If IronCAD wishes to give up Eye.com, call The Business Report, and we’ll see about a deal. And speaking of deals, one upstart Boulder Web site is up for sale. VDS merged with 3D/EYE, a maker of 3D modeling software look out Spatial Technology.

Eye.com is really, a site for Santa Clara, Calif.-based Visionary Design Systems, a solid modeling software maker. But as most readers might guess, Eye.com is taken. Eye.com is pretty catchy, and that way all the latest Eye tips could be read as soon as it/he/she spots them. Hey, why not? It’s the next wave of business. The Eye is considering registering him/her/itself as a dot com. Up it popped, ready to go without a single burp. One Eye tipster says as the New Year rolled around, everyone at her party gathered to watch a very old and absolutely not Y2K-ready computer boot up. Behind them is a computerized cash register showing Mon. So far, the best we’ve seen was the page one photo on Nederland’s Mountain Ear of two very “buggy-eyed” employees at the Ace Hardware store there. Dubroff, who will be editor and publisher of the new paper, spills out some interesting figures in his media release, saying that while he the Post’s business editor, he “participated as a member of the management team that transformed losses of $12 million into profits exceeding $25 million.” As we promised, the Eye continues its quest for actual Y2K bug reports. Dubroff is launching the Pacific Coast Business Times, a new weekly journal covering Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo.

Taking the entrepreneurial newspaper leap is Henry Dubroff, former business editor at the Denver Post and the Denver Business Journal. No word yet on his successor at the Weekly. Miller, who previously worked for The Business Report and the Longmont Times-Call, will be missed on the local media scene. “It’s every bit a small Midwestern town,” Miller told The Eye, “except it’s cool.” Miller, who traveled out to the land of Oz for a Weekly story, ended up liking the place and connecting with the local city editor there. The Eye gives a good-luck pat on the back to Boulder Weekly editor Joe Miller who’s accepted a staff reporter position at the Lawrence Journal-World in Lawrence, Kan.
